B1 Energy Rated homesHouses in the B1 category provide up to a 40% reduction in the amount of energy required by the home relative to 2002 building regulations. This is achieved by a number of different measures, which are included in the house as standard.
SolarAll houses have solar heating panels on the roof, which can provide up to 60% of domestic hot water requirements during the year as it converts both direct and indirect sunlight to heat. The solar panel also works even when it is overcast. In wintertime the solar panels are assisted with the gas central heating, which means there is plenty of hot water all year round at a fraction of the cost.
BoilerA condensing boiler is a high efficiency boiler that incorporates an extra heat exchanger so that the exhaust gases convert much of their energy to pre-heat the water in the boiler system. When working at peak efficiency the water vapour produced in the combustion process condenses back into liquid form releasing the latent heat of vaporisation. The boilers we use are one of the most efficient on the market and operate at 91.2% seasonal efficiency.
InsulationAll our homes are constructed with very high levels of insulation. External walls consist of a combination of 150mm cellulose insulation combined with 25mm high-density insulation. All internal walls are insulated as well as between the ground floor and first floor. 500mm cellulose insulation is used in the attic, which gives a better u-value than required by the current building regulations. With these levels of insulation you get a warmer home which helps to conserve energy and more importantly saves you money. |
